Maya Chowdhry is an interdisciplinary artist working with sound art and installation; utilising interactive audio and sensory input to invite audiences to respond to, and create their own journey, through her artworks. Her practice interrogates themes such as decolonial listening and climate justice. She is currently exploring biodata sonification; turning brainwaves into generative melodies and fungal signals into soundwaves – seeking to find a shared language between the human and the more-than-human.

Maya’s work has featured in diverse settings from gardens and galleries to TV and national radio. Artworks include Electric Echoes a sonic excavation of the contested history between the River Goyt and Stockport's former power station (FutureEverything, 2026), What’s Eating Reality, (Fermywoods Contemporary Art, 2026), and Soil Voicemails (Science Museum, 2020). Galvanising Change, a participatory live art piece examining climate anxiety, (Hulme Community Garden Centre 2021), was created as part of Net//work Residency with The British Council and Digital Art Studios.

Her residencies with Leeds University (2020) and Nottingham Trent University’s Critical Poetics programme (2021) explored inter-species care. In 2026 she co-wrote, with Dr Dani Admiss, ‘Containers for Ethical Climate Wayfinding’ an essay for Cultures of Climate, University of Huddersfield Press.
