Mick Harris is a musician and producer from Birmingham whose career has run from the frontline of extreme music to its furthest, quietest edges. As drummer for Napalm Death between 1985 and 1991, Harris helped forge grindcore itself, playing on landmark records including Scum and From Enslavement to Obliteration. Since leaving, he has followed a restless, singular path through electronic, dub, ambient, and industrial music — a career defined less by genre than by an unwillingness to repeat himself.

His output spans Scorn, the pioneering dub-industrial project formed with Nic Bullen; Painkiller, alongside John Zorn and Bill Laswell; and Lull, his isolationist dark ambient outlet, founded in 1990 and among the projects that first defined the isolationist strand of ambient music — vast, beatless, and glacially slow.

The past few years have been especially prolific. Working largely hidden away in the studio, Harris has released a steady stream of new material under the guises of Blare Weight Unit — dread-heavy, bass-driven soundscapes — the ongoing Culvert Dubs sessions, and new full-length Lull recordings, including That Space Somewhere, his first Lull album in over a decade. Across four decades, Harris remains one of British underground music's most singular and enduring voices.
